Quick guest post here. I was amazed at this little creation from a young budding pastry chef :) I promised a post and here we have it. Rainbow cake. I was really surprised at the color layers especially when she described how she managed to get it all together. Apparently the batter is separated into equal portions and colored with food coloring. Later the whole cake is combined (carefully) and then baked. I'm amazed that the colors didn't blend more, it's got a cool lava lamp feel to it. What we have is a unique cake that has it's own color fingerprint every time. Yummy and delicious! Thanks Megan for sharing your creation!
Whew. I'm starting this post at midnight here after a shift cooking at the Flying Carpet Moroccan Burger trailer. I'm beat, I served 79 people a four course dinner over 2.5 hours. Right now there's a shower and a nightcap waiting for me. (Seffa - Couscous with ground almond milk, honey and cinnamon) "Wha wha?! rewind splain that again?" Ok some background for everyone. The Flying Carpet features Moroccan burgers (normal, vegetarian or vegan) down on South Congress Ave. You *must* go it's amazing stuff. When Abdou puts that tomato sauce that he learned from his grandmother on the grill you're gonna start salivating. This was part of the "South Congress First Thursday" event that happens every month where artists and musicians come out and it's a big street party. She told me for h
Wow look at me two posts in one day. Ok you can call me a shill if you like, I know I go on and on about my gadgets and toys. And I've been meaning to put up a post for you about my flaming inferno tower smoker cooker thing-a-ma-jig. So I present to you my quasi review/show off of the Orion Cooker. I swear these people should be paying me when I feature their products, not enough eyeballs I guess :) The orion cooker is not technically a smoker. A smoker is a unit (be it electric or otherwise) that can sustain a low heat and create smoke. This device is a convection cooker that applies smoke. For my purposes it's a bit splitting hairs, however bbq purests would definitely *not* refer to this thing as a smoker. As you can see this thing users coal, lots and lots of coal. In fact it's possibly my only complaint about this device is that it requires 15 lbs of instant light charcoal. Most of it goes along the bottom "gutter" and 20 or so briquettes go into the tower
