Sorry for the short post. Had to put something together for lunch, nothing special. Corned beef with Sauteed zucchini, shitake, king oyster mushroom and steamed broccoli. Longer post to come on Hainanese Sous vide chicken breast.

Quick and simple Lunch

Nothing special. I had a hankering for some corned beef but I'm also trying to eat healthier so 4 oz of corned beef. Broccoli was a quick blanch and dry saute. I chopped up some King oyster mushrooms and stir fried it with garlic and soy sauce and Zucchini was like also quickly tossed until tender on a skillet. If I trust the nutritional recipe calculator it's 298 calories.

Valentines day bento

I know it's a few weeks late, but this was a pre-Valentines day bento that I made my for my wife. (duck breast blows the budget for my normal bento list of people) I marinated a duck breast in a hoison, plum, ginger sauce and then sous vide-ed them for about two hours. I actually ran a test with a Anova immersion circulator head to head against my new Nomiku. (I'll post details later) Then I used a heat gun (thanks for the suggestion from CookingForEngineers ) to broil the duck breast. Finally I topped it with a little pat of foie gras mousse. To keep with the asian theme I put together a bit of sesame fried rice. I used sesame oil (a little goes a long way) and a bit of scallion for flavor and aroma. Roasted broccoli and cauliflower with garlic and red chili Finally I sautéed Chayote in a bit of butter.

In the end diet is probably the biggest factor, even then I eat fairly healthy and don't really eat much in sweets. Anyhow, I'm trying to stick to low carb and lean protein so I hit up another Paleo Bento, so far probably the most sustainable "diet" I've been on to date, the no grain thing really bugs me since it keeps me away from my beloved quinoa. Anyone got a good successful sustainable diet I should look into please drop me a comment or email. To kick things off I started off with a spinach and beef mini burger. For filler I use spinach, mushrooms and onion and combine it with some lean 90/10 ground beef. I really liked the use of the veggies to give you the...
